I also started doing the Ming stretches after William emailed me and said to start them straight away and he agreed that drinking 3 litres was very difficult to do in a day and possibly too much. I have to say however, I found drinking that much on both Saturday and Sunday very easy. The Ming stretches were far from easy!!! I did a few back ones and the hamstring spectrum. They are very awkward to get into and you constantly wonder if you're doing it right. There's one called "Holding a large globe" and when I'd finished the pain at the top of my back in the middle was incredible as I lowered my arms. Looking at the blurb on it, it turns out this is an area that long distance walkers and runners suffer from with tightness. No surprise I'm aching there then!
In order to organise things for Graeme and get it so everything runs smooth for him, I worked out all of the postcodes to all of the pitstops on the Wall route. I sat faffing on looking up routes and all sorts, only to find a link saying ESSENTIAL INFORMATION. When clicking on it, it says at registration they will give supporters a sheet with all of that info on. I was gutted after meticulously working it all out!
So, I've wrote my lists for kit during the race and kit needed at the halfway point for my drop bag. I've never done anything remotely like this before and I have a mixture of fear and excitement. The route is tough and it's going to be quite a challenge, but I'm really looking forward to it. And, whilst I better not think about it during the race (to avoid chances of retching), I'll be looking forward to a glass of champagne on Sunday night to celebrate finishing it.
