Straightening up

Well, my ankle has been doing quite well, although I find after a day of walking around on it, it can be a little swollen. On Wednesday I spent my first full day 'cast free' walking up and downstairs at the day centre I work at. At the end of the day the plan was to go and do 15 minutes deep water running and I felt so tired and ready for a sit down, but I still made myself go. The DWR was absolutely fine on my ankle, and I did 20 minutes in all, although it had become quite swollen beforehand so the shoes I wear felt very tight around the base of my foot.

I also tried to be more aware of what I was eating on Wednesday. I signed up to the 21 day challenge and got an email saying it would begin on Saturday (today!) however I tried to take into account the candida free diet. I'm afraid I don't know enough about it though, and felt like doing it at the moment with so little knowledge wouldn't be such a good idea. However, another thing that was considered was the fact I may have a wheat allery. As a "candida free person" I wouldn't eat all of that anyway, so I thought I'd try to cut that out first and see how I go and how it makes me feel. I have to admit that after 3 and a half days without wheat I feel remarkably better. It's early days though, so we will see how it goes.

So, yesterday I did a core session. It all went fairly well and only the ur-mann exercise seemed to bother my ankle (I think that's due to the full range of motion required for it) and today I was planning on another DWR session, however the 2mm of snow over ice put payed to that and I can't get the car out of my street. So, I did a 20 minute circuit session instead. Again, only one exercise bothered my ankle (lunges) but all the rest seemed fine. I finished off with my physio exercises (which I'm getting quite good at). I managed to do 10 seconds standing only on my bad foot with my eyes closed, so the proprioception must be coming back.
