It's been a busy weekend. Graeme and I celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary (although it isn't actually until tomorrow) by going to the Lake District. We had a great time, and I'd love to go back when I can run again and do a bit of training there. The Yewfield Hotel was lovely, and they catered for us very well.
Sunday, I did a quick session of deadlifts when we got home, although was in such a hurry, I ended up doing them barefoot.... BIG MISTAKE! My foot hurt quite a bit immediately afterwards and has been a little sore until today (it feels pretty good again now). I lay in bed last night and seriously considered an MRI scan (just to put my mind at rest), but after a pain free day, I'm not as concerned. Maybe the whole 'barefoot to do anything' thing is severely out for the time being!
I was, again, pushed for time yesterday, after coming home straight from work and choosing to make banana/maple syrup and cinnamon scones instead of getting on with some training. I finally pulled myself together at about 7pm and did some boxing and padwork with Graeme for 20 minutes. I wanted to do more (bearing in mind yesterday was supposed to be an hour long cardio session), but Graeme advised against it as my shoulders would probably be in agony today after having 4 'rounds' of 2 minutes working hard. In actual fact, I'm not aching at all!
So, tonight I am going straight to the gym before I go home, so I can go on the hill climbing machine and earn my dinner! :-) Speaking of dinner and all things food... Graeme is now 1 day into the 30 day vegan pledge. In support I have given up crisps, chips and red wine. He is the sort of person that would become vegan for life if he thought it would improve his health and fitness, so he's as eager to see any improvements as I am. As a starting point, we got weighed and measured and analysed on Sunday evening and will do it again in 30 days. I was horrified to see my weight had crept back up to 9 stone 9 (it's all the crisps, chips and red wine I have indulged in recently) and my body fat had gone up by 0.5% and muscle mass down by 0.2%.... so THAT'S going to change! I'm not putting up with that. Plus, it turns out my portion sizes are far too big. This was brought to my attention by Helen when I brought in some home cooked food for work for her. Graeme agreed when I told him Helen had said it was double the amount she would normally eat. Ooops! So, last night I had 3 scoops of broth instead of the customary 5 scoops. Turns out it really WAS enough food for me after all. Deary me!!!
