Roller coasters

A weekend at Thorpe Park with Graeme and the kids had me wondering how my foot would cope. In the end we were on our feet for around six and a half hours on Saturday and about four and a half hours on Sunday. There was a lot of walking involved, I would guess at around 8 miles over both days, and my foot handled it all very well.

Yesterday I did an hour of step which I found rather boring and a core session. When I'd finished I knew today would have to be a rest day for my foot as it felt rather weary. I was actually going to rest totally today but ended up doing my upper body weights session that is due tomorrow (which will leave a 45 minute cardio session, squats and leg extentions to do tomorrow). I also went into the sauna and lasted a measly 13 minutes, feeling sick and shaky at the end.

I had an email from William saying him and Shaun agreed that Saturday should be my day for getting outside and walking for 2+ hours, but I needed a full 2 weeks of cross training with nothing from my foot before I increase anything (including running) because soft tissue takes a while to heal. Oh boy, don't I know it. If I had broken my foot all this could be a distant memory by now!!!

I'm feeling positive though, there is no way I could have walked as far as I did this weekend, only 3 weeks ago! I get my new orthotics on Friday so it will be great to try them out on a decent paced walk at the weekend. I'm also going to restart my Physio appointments, I figure it's time to get right back into my old routine.

I bought a new suit for work today. I can't work properly when I don't feel like I look professional. I had jumped up to a "Next" size 12. My skinny suits were a "Slim fit size 12", but I am now back in a size 10. I also bought a pair of comfy but fashionable shoes and am coming out of my trainers during work hours. After the roller coaster that has been my life recently, it's time to get off the ride!!!
