Tea at my house

It's been a lovely few days off work. I've managed to do a couple of weight sessions and have emailed William and Shaun and asked what training I can do for now. I have to say that I'm totally at a loss and apart from a couple of weight training possibilites, I don't have a clue what else to do.

I also took the plunge, put my desires aside and asked them did they think I was dillusional to think I could complete The Wall in June. I expected to be told there was no chance I would be fit enough in time and had already begun to accept that fact, when I got a reply saying the final decision must always reside with me, but they could definitely get me fit and strong enough in time as long as my air boot was off by the end of April. I can't tell you how delighted I was to read that, so the place in the race is still FIRMLY in my name! :-)

My foot has been very good, and although I am putting no pressure on it at all (even less because I've been off work) I get the impression it is improving dramatically. Because of work and time (on Pauls' part as well as mine), I am unable to see the podiatrist until 21st April. I'm thinking this is great though... you never know... maybe he will say I've done enough resting by then and can start walking without it.

I'm still getting lots of inquisitive questions from my mam on my vegan diet. She is amazed that I have no hayfever symptoms while everyone else has been terrible over the last week (I would get it quite bad usually). She asks about certain foods then scrunches her face up and says, "Oh God no... I couldn't eat that!" but keeps asking me what certain foods taste like, such as houmous and cous cous which she has never tried. When she had heard I had made a vegan tikka masala she said she wished she'd known so she could have had a taste.
She is also intrigued that both Graeme and myself have lost in the region of 9lbs each. Graeme has already had a compliment on how well he looks and told me that although he can't drink soya milk in tea, he would like me to buy soya milk for everything else from now on. It's amazing how doing something has different connotations for different people... my mam would love to be vegan for health and weight, Graeme seems motivated by the weight and the fact he feels better in himself and my reason has already been well documented and I don't need to go on about it further. I came home from the shops yesterday to find Graeme drinking a cup of tea with soya milk. He said it tasted fine, although hasn't had another cup with it in!

So, Graemes' brother has expressed and interest in eating a vegan meal (just as a one-off, you understand), my sister in law who has been a vegetarian for 26 years says food bores her and would love to try some of the food I eat, my mam wants to try a few things and Graeme is always up for a get-together, so we have invited them all over on Good Friday for tea at our house. As yet, we don't know everyones commitments and my sister in law has already sent me a text saying if they can come is it OK for them to bring sausages for our Paul (who wouldn't eat a vegan meal purely on the principle it had no meat in it). I had already considered this fact and had decided to put "party food" on too for the sake of the kids, my brother and my dad. So, I may have to become a good vegan cook overnight! God help me!
