Sharing greatness

Today I had another podiatrist appointment. Things are moving on... slowly, but moving in the right direction. I haven't worn padding on my foot for longer than a week before, however it seems to be working well so I have enough padding for another week and was given more laser treatment. I have much better mobility in my foot now, and although I'm almost certain it is on the mend, I also know it is a long journey ahead until it is sorted. I have decided that training (non weight bearing) restarts on Monday. It's time to get my head back out of the sand and pull myself together.

I've had a good few days actually. It was my birthday on Wednesday and I was inundated with cards, facebook messages and even had a thread started on Fetch wishing me happy birthday. It's amazing how little things in life cheer you up no end. I found out the marvellous Haile Gebrselassie has his birthday the same day as mine. I couldn't help but wish I could not only share the same birthday but also share his greatness of running ability! Hmmmph... not in this lifetime!

I don't know if I've already mentioned this in a previous blog, but I contacted Dhirender at Runners for Life about Bangalore this year. Apparently it will be done on November 11th and they are currently looking for a new venue so the route throws up a few surprises for the runners. Gutted... just when you think you know what to expect! This weekend, Graeme and I are going to the travel agents to sort out the trip there, with Dubai our first stop off. I already can't wait. This gives me something to aim for while being benched, but doesn't put the uneccessary pressure of coming back to running too soon on me.
