Kicking off

I've had a weird couple of days where my confidence has took a massive plummet. Yesterday I went for a run and chose a really hilly route and after 1.6 miles had to turn around because I felt like I had no energy and no cardiovascular fitness. In truth, had I fueled and hydrated properly yesterday, this most likely would not have happened. I did a bit of yoga and tried to put the day behind me, only to wake up this morning with an achy toe on my "bad" foot. It instantly made me feel panicky and every time I touched it, it felt like it was bruised. I can't say what I had done to cause this, although after writing this now, I wonder if it was the yoga!

I had received an email from Shaun and William about sleeping bags and mats that I had queried and before I knew it, a total "woe is me" email was sent back to them saying I felt completely unfit and I won't be running because I've hurt my foot and I don't know how. All I could think about was how rubbish I had fared on yesterdays run, and everything just seemed shit!

It's now a few hours later and my foot isn't hurting at all (although I'm going to rest it today just in case) and although my run yesterday was short lived and only 3.2 miles, I managed it well enough to run all of the hills without a walk break. I think I'll just put it down as a little "episode". I suppose I don't get them too often thank heavens!

Everything is well and truly kicking off about The Wall race. There are people complaining on forums, Facebook and to the organisers, and I even know of two people who have pulled out. This is what they are unhappy about.....

As you can see, The Wall race isn't really too much of Hadrians' Wall and quite a substantial amount is on the road. To be fair, I'm not really bothered myself... I look forward to the day when I can say I ran from Carlisle to Newcastle, and if 40 odd miles of that is on the road, well then so be it! At least I know now and have plenty of time to practice on the correct terrain.

And here is the elevation. So I really better get practicing on some hills!!!
