...you aren't as tired as you think!
Last night I felt absolutely exhausted and I was in bed by 9pm. Rock and roll I am not! At 6:15am Graeme got up and I was so zapped that the thought of getting up was a no-no and I went back to sleep, finally rising at 8:05... 11 hours sleep. I had a try of one of my expedition freeze dried food packets for breakfast. William had emailed to say that he prefers more water in than the recommended amount and that he normally packs them into two meals as one tends to be too much for him. I just had it "as is" to see what it was like. I expected my "Hot Cereal Start with Mango" to taste like wallpaper paste, so was very pleasantly surprised to find it tasted like it had been made with a vat of cream and not hot water. It was absolutely lovely, but, as I am totally crap at eating lots first thing on a morning I could barely eat 1/4 of it and so Graeme was pleased to polish the rest off for me.
I was looking forward to trying an hour of walking with 10KG, however felt really tired and thought that had I been scheduled to run today, I didn't think I would have had it in me. Putting on the rucksack was a genuine surprise... with 5KG less to contend with it really did feel quite easy. Graeme and Lincoln came with me for the first 15 minutes and then turned back as I was going onto a busy main road. I really wanted today to "count" by picking a hilly route. In actual fact I didn't find the hills difficult at all, and I found myself lost in my own thoughts. I think that if you are doing something and are in a rhythm and can "lose yourself" it is because you find it comfortable. I mean... who can "lose themselves" during the third interval, or the last rep, or the last mile!
I got back home and felt really refreshed. The tiredness I had felt earlier had completely gone and I felt great.
