Food diary

I woke up with a better frame of mind today after being upset over Lincolns' dad (Blaze) dying yesterday with a hereditary condition. I say "woke up", Graeme got up at 5am and came to tell me he was off to work at 6.30am. I felt like he'd been gone 3 or 4 minutes not an hour and a half and I felt like a zombie. I suppose my training is starting to take effect, after my first set of intervals yesterday for months. They were slow but doing a 10 minute mile for three 10 minute stints was virtually impossible for me a fortnight ago.

While I was at work today I had the idea of writing a food diary. After Graeme had commented that I had too many big races this year to risk ruining it all by not having the right nutrition, I thought it best to write down what I eat on a day to day basis and note what foods make me feel good and what are not so good. I'm not calorie counting... Sod that... Just noting everything and how training goes along with it. Before intervals yesterday I ate a cheese sandwich (15 minutes before) and felt fine, so today I tried vegetable soup 15 minutes before my run. It was horrendously windy, I'd forgotten my inhaler but despite this I managed so much better than I expected to. Maybe my fitness will come back quicker than I thought.
I had a recovery shake, bath and then some tea and then finished today off with a squat session. I only managed to get to 65KG, however that's only 15KG under my 1RM so it's better than I thought I'd do today considering I haven't done a decent set of squats for quite some time.
So, it's been a good day on the training front! I'm very glad to be back into the swing of things. William has been in touch and mentioned changes to my training, entering Stamford 30K and planning race build ups. Looking forward to it. :-)
