So, here it is, the first blog of 2012. I've been a bit lax of late with the blogging and to be honest I've been a bit lax with everything. The foot thing scared the living daylights out of me and I have to admit I've had to proceed with caution as far as it goes. I'm fortunate enough to know how far to push it and when to lay off, so it's a "so far so good" sort of thing. It aches like it did when it was healing earlier in 2011, so I have unfortunately gone from having no pain, aches or anything to having to be a little mindful of the situation. I know it will be fine though, as long as I'm not stupid and try to run on it when it's feeling a little delicate!
The ITB issues have subsided, and with the use of the Grid Roller things on that front have been going great. I have managed to train this week (to a lesser degree due to it being my full first week back) and I am aching all over. It's a good start, and things can only improve.
I have to put last year behind me now. Whilst it was good on the work front (eventually) and I reached my targets at work, and it was great on the travelling front with me going to Portugal, Lyon, Amsterdam and India... it wasn't so good on the running front because of the injuries I sustained. Running only 850 miles wasn't the best year I've had, but at least I got to do my first ultra... the first of many many more I plan to do!
