Beached whale

That's how I'm feeling at the moment, however I am of the opinion that whatever you do to your body takes a good two to three weeks to take effect, so the alcohol ban/normal exercise routine being back in force/better eating (non Christmassy food) still hasn't had a chance to catch up with me yet! It doesn't stop me feeling really "bleurgh" though!!!!

Training has gone (mostly) pretty well to be honest. I did a 30 minute step session on Friday holding 6KG weight for 2/3rds of it, and I was absolutely shattered. My calves were killing which I think is good... anything to improve their strength is great. Unfortunately for some bizarre reason the core session completely slipped my mind and I didn't even remember about it until Sunday... so that wasn't so grand! My long run in the XL vest on Saturday was difficult from the outset and felt very laboured. The plan was 1 hour 30 minutes but at 6.5 miles (around 1 hour 10 into it) I had an asthma attack and had to call Graeme to come and pick me up. By the time he got to me I was coughing my insides up and it took a good few minutes of being in the car and away from the wind before I felt better. The wind does it to my every time, and it seems every run I have done since just before Christmas has been on a very windy day. I'm getting sick of it! As I get my fitness back to normal however, my asthma will improve... it always does! The XL runs will hopefully start feeling easier too soon, as it's been 2 to 3 months since I was doing them regularly. It just goes to show how much harder it is running with the vest on!

The food diary is going well and I am writing what I've eaten/drank and the timescale. I'm also jotting down the time of my training, so hopefully if I have a good/bad session and it is related to what/when I've eaten, I'll be able to spot things quite easily.

I think it will be this week that William and Shaun give me details of the changes to my training. They have probably been waiting for me to get my arse in gear and get back into the full swing of things!
