As easy as that...

I got an email from William today saying both races I have chosen for next year are "Most suitable" for me. I was so excited and immediately sorted out the first race. This is in Llanelli, and is a 37 mile race that looks amazing. I believe it's in its' first year and it looks like the scenery will be stunning.
There is a 4.5 hour cut off at 18.5 miles, and finishes with free beer and a buffet. I have booked a really lovely hotel for the 2 days (stipulating I need a room with a bath), and I'm really looking forward to it.

However... that excitement is nothing compared to how I feel about the main race, which I will be doing in June. Another inaugural race, this one comes with a tag line "You've had 2000 years to train for it". I have entered The Wall.... 69 miles from Carlisle Castle to Newcastle Millennium Bridge, running alongside Hadrians' Wall. There were 2 options... The 2 day Challenger (with camping done in the middle of it) and the 1 day "Expert"... to be done within 24 hours. I do hate the word 'Expert', but that's the one I have entered.
It looks tough, and I'm looking forward to stepping up my training for it. It is a Christmas present from my family (my mam payed for it today on her credit card... a couple of clicks... It was as easy as that to enter). Afterwards when filling in my "Runner details" it said, "Please be aware, adventure racing comes with certain hazards and by agreeing to the terms you acknowledge that the race organisers take no responsibility for your personal safety"... or words to that effect. I realised, I have never DONE an adventure race yet... so I'm sure I have a lot to learn.

I know one thing... I have never been in a race before where your 'supporters' aren't allowed to hand you anything (even a jelly baby... although I hate those anyway). It's classed as cheating apparently, I gather you have to be very self sufficient, and if I want anything that I don't have and isn't available at an aid station, I have to go to a shop nearby and buy it.
I have the great fortune to have 3 wonderful supporters anyway, who will give me a lot of moral support. I know one of them who will give me a right ticking off if I'm not eating properly... and I KNOW he will ask me every time he sees me to keep me on the right track. :-) I'm really quite excited... and scared... and excited!!!! I've booked two lovely hotels for that too... one in Carlisle on Friday night and a nice one in Newcastle (a stones throw from the finishing line). I have booked the Newcastle room for two nights, because if Bangalore is anything to go by, I won't be able to move very much at all on Sunday!
