Today the list of participants for the ultra was published. There are 40 of us doing the 75K, 32 doing the 100K, 183 doing the 50K and absolutely hundreds doing the 12.5/25/37.5 categories. All in all there is 1040 of us, and apparently with only 50 places overall left to fill, today is the cut off and after today if you're not in then you're not in!
I looked down at the 75K list, and unfortunately as I am unaware of the Indian christian names for women, I am unsure how many females are in my category. I can see a couple of obvious ones, but a lot of them look like they may be men. I hope there are a good few of us... I am number 7. (Lucky for some!) We (along with the 100K'ers) start at 5am.
Graemes' category has him at number 49, and they start at 6am... and then the majority of the participants start at 7am. I have a feeling it's going to get very crowded in between 7am and 12ish. I hope I don't annoy everyone by stopping to walk every 15 minutes, although I always do my best to keep to the side and out of the way.
I feel a little uneasy and nervous after reading all of the info (but that is probably quite normal). There are sections about race day kit, race day info, route info and bus transfers which are not available yet. I may have to find all that out when I get to India, unless they are sharp and get it all up on the website before next Thursday/Friday morning.
I keep thinking this can't possibly feel more real... but it gets more and more real with every day that passes. But it's a good feeling to go somewhere like this and have no expectations of yourself other than finishing. And hopefully, I'll come back with a tan too! :-)
