OK, so I've pretty much buggered up my nutrition for the majority of the time I've been running... It's not long since I found out I was buggering up my hydration too... What a plonker! I remember the race start for Loch Ness being put back by half an hour the year I did it and EVERYONE whinged about how it ruined their race and ruined their hydration and fueling. I thought they should all get a grip, but clearly it was more important than I'd given it credit for.
So, today was my first attempt at running with a meal replacement shake. I took it exactly one hour before I began my trail run, and for the first half hour I felt a bit too full, so I will have to try having it one and a half hours before my run on Saturday to see how that feels. Today was a great run. I now have to constantly practice the 15:5 and I have to admit I felt quite energetic. Unfortunately, energetic also meant running too fast (even on the uphills) so it wasn't a good practice of race pace. William has told me to run how I feel and not run to Garmin times, as the surface in India will be an unfamiliar one so I need to gauge it accordingly.
I ran in thermal top and bottoms with a windproof jacket and winter hat. It was 10.5 degrees, and the thermal top is one I can normally only bear at the height of winter in blustery snow storms. I thought the temperature on the run was perfect, although I got a tad cold on the last walking section.
I've also done my last weight session today, so it really is all downhill from here. Saturday is a 90 minute run, and I'm choosing the worst route I have available and no doubt will be hyperventilating on the hills. This time next week I will be packed and ready to go down to Manchester. I'm really looking forward to it, and quite excited.
