Today I got an email from my manager saying I had too many holidays booked in when district meetings were taking place. These "holidays" involved Amsterdam marathon and Bangalore ultra. I held my breath as I read on to see he was happy to agree to India, but could Amsterdam be rearranged. Errrrr.... shit!
I rang to see if I could change the flight to after the meeting on the Friday only to find it would cost £400, and going first thing Saturday morning wasn't much better... plus I'd miss all the Friday night banter and get together. After speaking to him on the phone tonight, he said not to rearrange anything for now and we would discuss it tomorrow as he wasn't necessarily saying I had to cancel it. PHEW!
I am also finally allowed to tell everyone I have won the trip with work to Lyon. As other people in my area didn't know who had won, I didn't want to broadcast it, however after receiving an email from a friend who works in Peterbrough branch congratulating me, I figured it was now OK to brag about it. I am most chuffed. Apparently the chateau is right next to Lyon Forest (so that's my lovely long run sorted for that weekend in over 60,000 hectares of trail), and everything during the weekend is already paid for... wow!
Tonight I did the same route that I did a couple of weeks ago (where I got a huge 12 minute PB) and got a further 9 seconds off that today. I had a break where I had my shake and something to eat and then finished off with my core and rebounder sessions. I also started to use my Powerbreathe. God, I hate using it as it makes me gag, but it works well for my asthma so I have started to log the sessions in my training log (well... it is a form of training). I'm hoping that the fact I have to now record it will make me stick with it, because at the moment I look for any excuse not to use it!
