I've noticed how quick my recovery seems to be lately. I can finish training and within half an hour feel like I haven't even bothered doing any exercise. I'm sure it's this good because of my diligence with using recovery drinks. I now do not do any form of exercise (apart from dog walking and sauna stuff) without taking my recovery drink straight afterwards. I have in the past gone through spells where I
have run out and don't use anything and try to survive on stuff like fruit/nuts etc and it really doesn't work as well. Yesterday I ordered more of my Myprotein shake, despite already having 3/4 of a bag left and I'm going to try and keep doing this because I'm sure that this is the reason why I'm keeping fit and healthy.
I had emailed to ask William and Shaun about doing another run on a Sunday (so as to start a sort of back to back running couple of days) and Shaun had answered saying that I should be very careful if I want to try this as I already do a lot of other stuff and could push too far. I sat and thought about that for a day or so and realised that if I did run on a Sunday after deadlifts, I would probably be too knackered and achy to do my Monday 1 hour run. So, in effect this would be counterproductive! Shaun is going to get together with William when he gets back from Cologne (where he has won yet another race and got himself another two records!) and look at either adding something else somewhere or increasing the intensity of my other training sessions. He seems to think that the fact I want to do another run is indicative of needing to increase my training load. Sounds good to me!
I did my deadlifts today and although getting another full range PB (which is now 85KG) I seem to be losing strength in my grip. I don't know if doing the extra weight for full range is tiring me out by way of my grip, but I can't seem to last the session without almost dropping the bar from my left hand. Shaun had suggested not wearing gloves, however I ripped the callus off my left hand on one of the full range deadlifts. I think the callus is there because of my wedding ring. Although I don't wear any rings for training, I think the fact that my wedding and engagement ring is there the rest of the time means anything I grip causes hard skin to accumulate. It feels a bit sore at the minute, but it's been worse!
I managed 25 minutes in the sauna after training. It was the most horrendous last 5 minutes though and I had to fight to stay in, it was positively torturous and I could feel my pulse everywhere...even in my back! Let's put it this way, if the safety of the nation was on my shoulders and all I had to do was stay in there for another 5 minutes, I'm afraid you'd all be f*cked!
