Yesterday my deep water running went well and I worked very hard despite feeling quite weary when I first got there. After a meal, I did my core session and am definitely improving, managing 3 sets of 80 steps of airborne running.
Today after going to work for the morning, I did my XL long run with a plan of 1.5 hours. From putting on my Camelbak I felt tired and not really up for a run. The Camelbak felt really heavy, which I probably have noticed more because of not using it for about 16 weeks. I thought after a mile or so I would settle into the run but I never really did. My first 25 minute section of running was hard work. William had said in an email that 25/5 is not necessarily better than 3:1.... I thought he was being motivational and polite at the time (he said this when I was only able to do a 3:1 due to injury), however this week he said that he had won the race in Hungary last week (the bloke in second place was 54 miles behind William) on a 3 minutes run and one minute walk strategy.
So, I ambled along on my run and basically did what I could. It was so windy and I felt completely worn out. The second half of the run was done with a lot of walk breaks and at 5.5 miles my head was all over the place. Normally I would have phoned for a lift home feeling this bad, but I pulled myself together... after all, I can't give up just because it feels difficult can I? I did run most of the 3.1 miles home after that, ending the run at 8.6 miles... nearly a third more than last weeks long run. I won't be discouraged... I am so proud of myself for getting back to training so quickly and today was just a tough day after finally getting back to my full training programme.
Since the run I have felt very very tired and have eaten absolutely loads... apart from a piece of coffee cake however, it has all been very healthy food. People are starting to comment on how toned I am starting to look, which is definitely encouraging. I have noticed that my midriff feels much smaller, so it's all good.
Tomorrow my mam will be doing a 2 mile run and I shall be accompanying her. I will also be doing my deadlifts and having a sauna. I will probably need one by then to help ease my aching bones!
