I had my first go at deep water running in my new AQx suit and shoes today. As I walked into the pool area the lifeguards just stared at me open mouthed and I felt quite embarrassed.
Getting into the water, I noticed immediately how good my position was because of the suit buoyancy, and it was really hard work on the hamstrings after 30 minutes of exercise.
There were a few old blokes in the pool and they kept me entertained for the full half hour laughing and joking with me, and getting out of the pool afterwards was hilarious as I had to stand by the side for ages as water tipped out of the suit from all angles. That and the shoes are definitely a good purchase!
Funny thing is, here I was worried I looked like the Mitchelin man, when in actual fact the biggest surprise by my fellow bathers was the fact they had allowed me to wear shoes in the pool... apparently it is a definite no-no. Now I know why the manager had been so reluctant to agree to it in the first place!
So, later tonight I have my max test for squats to do, and then that's me for a couple of days as we are off to Thorpe Park. Looking forward to a spa hotel and scary white knuckle rides!
