Last night I had one of those nights where you don't get much sleep, and then when you do it's the dreaming type. When the alarm went off I felt like I hadn't even been to bed at all. It was my turn to walk Lincoln, but going out into the frosty morning and treading across frozen grass seemed to wake me up quite a bit and I felt a bit more lively afterwards.
I had an email from head office when I got to work... I'm only 3 weeks off winning an all expenses paid weekend to La Manga, Murcia in Spain. Apparently it's a sports resort with spas and you don't need to take a penny with you as literally everything is paid for. If I keep up with my sales for the next 3 weeks I have beaten everyone else in the district... however, we all know that in sales ANYTHING can happen in 3 weeks, so I'm not banking on it just yet. It is also not for a couple... it's for the top 2 dispensers in each district. All in all 16 people win it from across the country... and it is to be taken in the middle of May, so if I do win it, I come back from Basel on Monday evening...go back to work Thursday and fly to Spain on Friday. I'd love to win it. In the darkest depths of the ultra in Basel maybe it will get me through the tiring hours...
So, I got home from work and went straight out for my run. After about 2 miles I realised it might not be the best option to run the whole thing in case my foot felt fine and then went downhill later, so I started putting little walk breaks in... like you would when wearing in orthotics. My feet felt quite uncomfortable at times (both of them) which happens to me when I haven't ran for a couple of weeks. I actually felt like I was going to get blisters on my toes. The run went by fairly uneventfully and I was genuinely surprised not to feel tired during the run at all. I normally lose fitness very quickly so this seemed strange.
After tea I did my core exercises. Wow was that a hard session. I think after all of the deadlifts yesterday I felt weakened, but it was really enjoyable. I was really knackered when I was finished, and I have come to the conclusion that I do enjoy a certain level of pain during exercises... well, I must do to put up with all of this! :-)
