A tiring day

I woke up with a start this morning. Graeme got up early to walk the dog, and he was telling Lincoln off for doing something. I didn't know what day it was, where I was or anything.

As soon as I got up I entered the Grantham Ultra for Graeme and myself, and booked the hotel room for two nights. We have decided to take the Friday off work and make a long weekend of it, so I'm looking forward to it. I also made a list of the things we would need for the run and managed to get to Go Outdoors this afternoon to purchase the things we didn't have. Despite already having most of the items required, it still cost around £80 for the rest of it (for both of us, as I'm sure we won't be running together on the day). So, I got us both a compass, map cover, whistle and an emergency thermal blanket (which is basically a glorified space blanket). The one thing that has always put me off doing these trail type runs is not having the equipment... well, I've got it now. The compass was £17... I thought it better to go for an "in-between" price. They had them as cheap as £1.75 and as expensive as £45... so I went for the middle of the road type.

The rest of the day went by fairly uneventfully, and as soon as I got home I went straight out for a 45 minute run. I was so tired for the whole thing and my chest felt unbelievably tight. I even considered using Graemes' inhaler when I got home, but after five minutes the tightness subsided.
Before having a bath I took the dog straight out for his walk. He's getting really good on the lead now. He is going through a bit of a disobedient phase however, which we have been advised is linked to teething. Thank heavens this doesn't happen more than once!

I made a lovely stir fry for tea and then after a couple of hours went up to the loft to do my squats. They didn't go too well today, even the 35KG set seemed much heavier, so by the time I did 3 sets at 50KG I just felt really exhausted. I suppose it's just one of those days!

To make matters worse, Lincoln has just playfully dropped his bone onto my ankle. You could hear the loud "crack" from another room. It's absolutely knacking! The bugger!!!!

One good thing is, my calves feel OK today. I thought after yesterdays barefoot running they would be in agony, but they are fine. So, knowing that, I will start skipping again next week.
