I felt like I was on another planet yesterday... after a fabulous New Years Eve party in Kettering, far too much food (you know me... made the most of every morsel handed out to me.... I even ate half of Terrys' fillet of beef as well as all of my own), and far far far too much alcohol... well, you can imagine how bad I was feeling yesterday.
So, after eating very healthily yesterday once I'd got home, and eating well today, I was feeling much better this afternoon ready for my deadlift session. I was very pleased how it went, lifting up to 65KG (my PB is 67.5KG), however genuinely felt I could have lifted more. I chose not to (being very cautious, after all it's only my second session back after weeks and weeks of no strength training) and I can feel how hard I've worked now, after about an hour of resting (so I'll be in a nice state tomorrow no doubt).
Tomorrow will be my hour long run, and I'm hoping I have a better time than the run/walk I did with Kerry on New Years Eve. God, I was absolutely awful. My chest felt so tight and constricted and I have no excuse other than lack of training recently. Hopefully tomorrow will be stacks better (a bit like today was much easier than last week at deadlifting).
We went to pick Lincoln up from the kennels today and he went absolutely ballistic when he saw us. Lyndsey even had to let go of the lead as he launched himself through the air, whimpering and crying in a "Yay... you've come back for me" sort of way! He's picked up a few nasty habits in the last 3 days... jumping up, barking for nothing and growling when you go near his food. Needless to say they have been corrected already (even to the point I sat and stroked his face while he was eating by the end of today, with no growls). Unfortunately, because he's a quick learner... he quickly picks bad stuff up too. He's gorgeous... I'm so glad we have him!
Merlin seemed really huffed at us for going away too. He sat with his back to us for about an hour yesterday before coming round. He's fine now and back to his loving self.
So, it's a good start to the year all round (apart from the hangover from hell). I have all my new suits ready for work, my training gear washed and ready to go.... and thank heavens we don't have any snow... because my Icebugs STILL haven't been delivered. There's something not right there!
