Best of a bad job

This afternoon I got to go for a decent walk with the dog along the beach banks. I wore my wellies and XL vest and almost broke my neck a few times on the ice. It was horrendously slippy, and as we passed a bloke with a black Labrador, I asked if it was this slippy everywhere and he said yes, unfortunately it was!

The XL vest had me thinking, as at 11lb it seemed full to the hilt and wouldn't have the ability to hold any more sand. It wasn't until I got home that I realised that it's maximum was 5KG... hence being full to the hilt (5KG being equal to 11lb... or thereabouts). I wonder how many years it takes me to get to that sort of weight during a long run! I'm really looking forward to giving 5.5lb a go on my long runs. I know it's going to hurt, but I know I will get used to it... just like I did when I first used the vest.

I got home from the walk to see stacks of people on Facebook had managed to get out for a run, and Kerry texted me to say there was no ice there at all. I felt gutted to be here out on a limb, and so did a quick speedy circuit session at home. I did 30 trunk curls, 30 second plank, 20 press ups (girlie style), 20 tricep dips, 20 bodyweight squats, 20 calf raises, and then finished with 10 sets of stair running (130 steps altogether). I was absolutely shattered, so gave myself a 2 minute break before doing a second set. Graeme couldn't believe how fast and hard my heart was going at the end. I'm so unfit.... but I won't be for long!!!

So, I've eaten relatively healthily today. The app that I use for calorie counting showed that the last 2 days I've had far too much sodium (which I was totally unaware of), so maybe being a bit more sodium conscious, I may find I'm retaining a lot of water again. Doh! I never learn!

Tomorrow I'm off to get.... a perm! Sounds ridiculous I know, but it's just one of those body perms that will leave my hair wavy but I can make it straight or even proper curly. I feel like a style change! I have also got myself a couple of new suits for work. Unfortunately, I'm one of those people who doesn't sell well when I don't feel like I look good... so new clothes all round. (Any excuse eh?)

Lincoln is doing well. We have been training him to walk on a Halti harness. I used one of these for my last dog and he was marvellous at walking to heel. Lincoln is at the "not too happy it's on and will pull it off if he gets the chance" stage, but he is already walking very well to heel.
He's also brilliant at finding things that we have hidden once we have given him a smell of what he's to "seek". He can do it with everything from treats and pieces of beef to tops off shaving foam. He is completely amazing, and saying the word "SEEK" has his nose straight on the floor and him sniffing like mad. We tried to fox him the other day by hiding his treat on the sofa... suddenly his nose lifted off the floor and he was wandering around like one of the bisto kids with his nose in the air! He found it straight away. We're very proud. :-) I think he may have missed his vocation in life!
