"Hey, mam... I saw you out running on Monday", Luke said to me today. "Oh yeah... where?", I replied. He screwed his face up in a very sarcastic way and said, "Well, actually... you were walking up the hill at Crimdon... I was quite disappointed to point you out to my mates mam who was driving us to Hartlepool... because you normally run up that hill"
Those words echoed in my ears as "said hill" lay before me at around 2.5 miles into my run today. What if he saw me again? I ran the whole bloody way, and although it hurt my chest which felt unbelievably tight today in the freezing cold, I did my first non walking run of the year. Yay!!!
I'd already done a walk with Lincoln in my XL vest this morning, so the final part of todays' training was squats. As my power cage isn't here yet, I have to rely on Graeme to lift the weight onto my shoulders, so pretty much 50KG is all I dare attempt at the moment. I was very pleased to find the squats fine to do... the final set being 8 reps at 50KG and all together with the lower weights included, I did 60 squats altogether. My legs felt like jelly as I walked down from the loft.
I feel fantastic after todays efforts, and am enjoying being back training again. I even had a sneaky look in Runners World at all the up and coming races for 2011... a good sign me thinks! :-)
The eating is going well too, and I'm even enjoying eating the healthier options.
