Weighty issues

Today I was supposed to weigh myself BEFORE my tea and toast... I forgot and did it afterwards, however have lost 2lb this week and have also lost 1 inch from my waist and 1 inch from my hips. I'm very lucky that when I lose weight, the first thing to get smaller is my waist... unfortunately my chest/back is still the same size as last week... not good when you wear slim fit suits for work, so I spend most of my working day with my jacket unbuttoned... looks like next week will be the same then!

I have to say I'm delighted to lose 2lb, and it's been extremely easy. Eating well has made me feel much better and I realise I don't need to eat the vast amounts that I used to when I would run 40+ miles a week. It's a pleasure to prepare healthy wholesome meals instead of taking the takeaway leaflet out of the draw.
I have to admit though, that I have a very motivating reason to keep this up. When I put 11lb in my weights vest to walk the dog I was appalled at how heavy it felt (especially considering I need to lose 2 pound more than that). So, every time I want to "fall off the wagon" I shall think about that weight and how much more difficult it must be to run with it!
Now, I'm not stupid... I believe my ideal running weight to be 8 stone 10, however this was before I started weight training (which builds more muscle mass and greater bone density). Now, I'm not sure how that would equate in pounds, ounces or even grams... so I have been sensible and set my goal at 9 stone by Basel (hence the 13lbs). So... 11lb to go!!!

I ran my first run in the XL vest today (since before Florence). I knew it was going to be difficult (especially as the weight has increased by 50% of the original sand put in there). The first 3 miles were fine, however the wind lured me into a false sense of security as I believe this helped me a lot. Turning back and facing it was much much harder and I ran/walked it. I tried to run at least half of the hills and inclines to try and build back up again, however was shattered when I got home. Poor Lincoln wanted loving and I was far too knackered to give him a fuss.

So, I did about 70% of my usual training this week (missing out yoga, speed session and skipping on Tuesday and only doing 1 hour run today instead of 2 hours), so I'm quite pleased with it. The strength for the weights has come back really quickly... it's just the cardiovascular to sort out now!
