Waiting

I've been waiting all day for the pain to kick in from yesterdays' deadlifts. After the session, I was really achy, but went to the spa and had a long sauna, jacuzzi and then finished off in the steam room. I've been told many a time by Shaun and William this will help, but I did a bit longer than usual yesterday in the hope it would ease things today. I have the odd twinge here and there but feel pretty good.

I got a great email from Shaun with feedback on the deadlifts. Apparently there are a few categories when it comes to this sort of thing. There's untrained, novice, intermediate, advanced and elite. Apparently, I'm doing really well... a bit of the email I received today said...
Looking back at the Strength Standards chart we can see this puts you about 2lbs (less than 1kg) below the "Intermediate" standard for a woman of your bodyweight. Certainly you are so close to this that you'd probably achieve a 1kg increase on your next session! Which is frankly excellent and so you should be seriously pleased with yourself. I'll remind you of the quote for defining the "Intermediate" level - "A person who has engaged in regular training for up to two years. The intermediate level indicates some degree of specialization in the exercises and a high level of performance at the recreational level."
Getting to this level with deadlift in the timescale of your training is brilliant. I do want to put this in context. Most people specifically training for strength - i.e. just training for strength (so resting a lot between weight sessions, eating to increase bodyweight a little etc), not as a way of helping their running - won't achieve this standard in less than a year (and quite possibly rather longer) of regular training. I feel very pleased to have got you to this point, and you really should be delighted. The actual timescale makes your achievements doubly impressive. And as you'll have noted, we've done this without turning you into the She-Hulk.

I was well chuffed to read that. He does of course elaborate on other stuff... have I mentioned how detailed their emails are? ... but I just wanted to put that little extract in here, as I really was very pleased to read it!
Turns out, I've been doing straight leg deadlifts when I should have done standard/sumo ones for this, however I find the standard ones easier, so Shaun reckons I may even be able to go heavier... we shall see eh?

A huge congratulations has to go to William by the way... he broke 2 records this weekend in Royan, so with his plan to break 60 records by the time he's 60... he's doing great... 34 down, 26 to go!

Well, it's a sad fact, but there's a hallway waiting to be papered, and I have to do it. So, I best be off!
