Autumnal

Yesterday I was surprised to feel quite good after the previous days' training. I had the odd ache and pain here and there, but was pleased it wasn't as bad as I feared.

I got home from work at about 5.30pm and the wind was howling. It looked so Autumnal outside that it made me want to curl up in front of the fire with the cat!
But rules are rules, as I often say... and off came the work suit and on went the training gear. No shorts today though... 2XU tights, a hat and a windproof jacket!

It was absolutely freezing and it took a good 2 miles before I warmed up. Despite the strong wind, it was a lovely run and I was really enjoying being out. It wasn't until I got back home and started to walk around the block that my legs completely seized up... enough to make me moan out loud!

It was while I was stretching off that I looked round to see the cat had his head in my glass of recovery drink (Frijj milkshake... I've ran out of the "good" stuff). Fortunately I'd had most of it, but I can't believe that a cat would like chocolate fudge brownie flavoured milkshake... if I'm honest, it was a bit sickly!

I had a terrible night sleep last night. Everytime I moved in bed I would feel an awful ache or pain somewhere. I'm certain I've never ached this much before in my life. One of the blokes at the Spa said it was probably because I'd had a couple of weeks off due to my taper but I'm not so sure. The one thing different at the moment is that I'm pushing myself more than usual... running further before I'm forced to walk, lifting one more weight than I feel I'm able to, and even during circuits trying to achieve a negative split, ie trying to do more exercises in the second half on each station that the first half (strange how I motivate myself, I know).

It's skipping and intervals today, and I'm really achy so not sure how I'll get on!
