Todays skipping went well. I can now get to about 50 skips before tripping up on the rope... probably sounds quite a feeble attempt, but when I first started doing this 10 or so weeks ago I could only do 2 skips! I also went straight back to it after tripping each time and had no rest period at all... this is also a major thing as my calves were in agony after 2 minutes the first time I attempted skipping and a lot of the 10 minutes were spent whingeing and resting!
Intervals made me extremely overheated today. Unfortunately I had forgotten to wash my vest tops so had to wear a race (tech) t-shirt. I was surprised how much warmer it made me feel.
I managed the first interval at 8.42mm pace for 10 minutes then had only 1 minute walking before doing the remaining 4 minutes at 12.20 pace (and it doesn't half feel quicker than that on a treadmill I can tell you!).
The second interval was 2 minutes at 8.42 pace and quickly reduced to 10.10mm for the remaining 8 minutes. I was shattered and had the full 5 minutes walking recovery.
The last interval was 5 minutes at 9.05mm pace but then this again had to be reduced to 10.10mm pace for the last 5 minutes. I walked for 2 and a half minutes and then did the rest of the 12.5 minutes at 12.20 pace as a cool down.
The sweat was literally pouring off me and I was unable to sit in the sauna afterwards as I was just far too overheated.
So, although I really wanted to do 2 sets at 8.42mm pace this is still the best I have achieved, and I walked today for 6.5 minutes less than I normally do, so I'm heading in the right direction.
