Accept or Reject

I hope it's a rejection letter I get from VLM... a few people have got their magazine with an accept or reject front, but mine hasn't come yet. I don't want to do it. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing feeling being part of one of the biggest marathons in the world, but it's not really my scene. Too many runners elbowed me in the chest last year, and I think the pain of that has put me off for life!
Besides, I will be entering Basel which is in early May, and that by far is more important to me!

I had my medical today for Florence, and was delighted when they charged only £10 as these medicals seemed to be a "regular thing" for me! So, I faxed off the documents to 209 Events and it's now fully paid and all the bits and bobs are finalised. I'm really looking forward to it. I have quite a high target time and I will do whatever it takes to achieve it!

The Chia seeds came today too. The nice UPS man delivered them right on lunch time, so after reading the instructions and the promise that they have no taste, I put a scoop onto a tuna sandwich. What I didn't realise was that the scoop held more chia seed than there was tuna on the bread and so I took my first bite with a bit of trepidation. There was no need though, as there certainly was absolutely no taste to it whatsoever. Getting through the second half of the sandwich was a bit of an ordeal as I was so full up (unusual for me... I'm a pig and can normally eat stacks). I then drank a large cup of green tea and waited for the impending hunger to start (1 tuna sandwich is just simply not enough for me!).
5 hours later, I finally decided I was a little bit hungry and had a roast dinner.
So, no dicky tummy (with all that fiber I expected the worst), no hunger pangs... in fact I didn't even think about eating, no bloated feelings or anything! Could be a winner! I'm not sure I would chose to use it during a run as the Aztecs did, but having some for breakfast before a long run or race could be most beneficial considering they soak up to 10 times their weight in water and promise to keep you hydrated for longer. Watch this space... I'll let you know the verdict after Saturdays' long run!

I ordered a new pair of trainers today. My current ones are still fine, but I thought it best to get used to a second pair before my old ones have to go up to the shoe shop in the sky. Maybe I'll get closer to the recommended 500 miles on the new ones because I'm running better... hope so.

The pictures of the puppies on Andys' website are making me go all gooey and mushy. I can't wait to get him. I asked my mam and dad if they would have him while we are in Florence and they said yes that was fine. My dad did say he didn't think they would be able to give him back to me though. They are coming to see the pups when they are old enough (next week I think).... I will be surprised if they don't get a girl because they will be so taken by them! Time will tell I suppose.
