Marathon tired

Yesterday I woke up with that awful "Marathon Tired" feeling. If my memory didn't serve me so well, I would think I had definitely ran said distance on Sunday. I hadn't slept great because everything hurt so much every time I moved in bed, and even just getting out of bed was a struggle.

I went to a clients house first thing, and as I bent down to pick up some hearing aid tubing, the lady said "Oh, are you feeling a little stiff dear?". I was surprised, did I really look that bad? No, as I had bent forward, without realising it I had let out a loud groan of discomfort.

So my run yesterday was not welcomed, and the first 2 miles I felt like my gait was all over the place. However, I did eventually settle into it and felt so much better for going. It dawned on me that I haven't done a run on fresh legs for weeks and weeks... I'm always aching somewhere!
I then went to yoga, and felt great afterwards. You really do feel stretched to the limit during it and sometimes it feels very uncomfortable, but it makes you feel loads better when it's done. Our instructor got us to do a headstand pose, which apparently you should only do after a year or so of doing yoga as you have to build your strength up first. She paused for a second looking at Graeme and me, shrugged and said "Ahh, you two are fit enough to give it a go". It was very difficult but we did manage. I had to ask afterwards what the whole point of it was as I couldn't see any benefits to standing on your head. Apparently it's all circulation and building strength in your shoulders!

Only a few days to go, and we are off to Cumbria for the "downgraded" 10 mile run... apparently it's only 9.5 after being officially measured. Wouldn't you think they would have added a bit on somewhere to give the promised distance? As it's not an important race by way of finishing time, I'm still doing the normal training this week (apart from Saturdays' long run... that day I actually get a rest...yay!). I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone and having a good weekend away. :-)
