Today has been a tough day in the exercise department.
Circuits this morning was with a new instructor, and I think he means business.
The circuits comprised of press ups, bicep curls with 5KG dumbells, plank, shoulder press with a 5KG weighted bar, bicycle abs, lunges with 4KG dumbells, skipping, tricep dips, fast step-ups, squats with a 9KG barbell and then finishing off with running.
He got us to do 30 seconds on each exercise, then after a minute recovery we did 45 seconds on each and then a minute (moving quickly between stations with no recovery time). Just when we thought the worst was over, we were told we had to do the circuit in reverse for 30 seconds and then finish with a 45 second set.
There was 5 of us in the class, and none of us could barely talk by the end of it, we were so shattered. I don't seem to handle the upper body stuff well at all, but I am pretty good on the stuff for the legs and was able to keep up a really fast tempo for all of those type of exercises. Apparently we were a good class with good technique which made his job easier!!!
This afternoon after dinner, I went back to do some deadlifts, with the intention of lifting heavier than I have done before. I did 12 x 22.6KG, 10 x 31.6KG, 8 x 40.6KG and 6 x 45.2KG. I then put 50.6KG on the bar hoping to do 1 rep, but managed 2. I only have 5 more KG to go, and I will be out of available weight, as that's all the barbells hold at the spa, so it looks like I'm going to have to get my own stuff sooner rather than later.
So, I'm currently walking like John Wayne, and it's not a good look! It's all going to catch up with me tomorrow... I just know it! Oh well... I've said it before and I'll say it again...no pain no gain!
