Today was a nice relaxing and easy day on the training front.... or so I thought.
A 60 minute easy run wasn't quite what I experienced. It was very warm today (20 degrees at 9am when I went out for my run) and to be perfectly honest, I was aching all over. It didn't exactly impede on my running, but it was uncomfortable in the heat and I was very tired when I got back.
This evening was my first Iyengar Yoga class. As we waited at the door, somebody said it wasn't exactly an easy class. The instructor came in and introduced herself to us, asking about any injuries or difficulties we may have. She explained that she is renowned for making everyone hold a stretch for much longer than most instructors would, and to just do what we could.
How hard could it be? Well, that's what I thought.
Within seconds of starting the class I was already in a position I found incredibly uncomfortable and difficult to hold... and when I realised the class was for 1 and a half hours, I knew by the end I was going to be hurting.
I have to say though, it was difficult, but it was very good. I look forward to being better at it!
