Spa Circuits

I was very apprehensive about today as I haven't done a circuit 'class' for about 12 years and I haven't ever done what I would term as "2 hard days in a row".

We got to the class and 2 people were there with the instructor. Apparently they are normally the only 2 who turn up because it's a Sunday and it's early. I told them there were now going to be 4 of us, because it's in my plan, and they seemed genuinely pleased to have us.

A quick run through of the circuit, and we were off.
There was 30 seconds on each exercise and 30 seconds running in between exercises until the circuit was complete then a couple of minutes rest until we went round again. All in all, we did 4 circuits, which included, Plank, bent over row, step ups, squats, press ups, jumping burpees, bicep curls, crunches, lateral raises and reverse lunges.

I was quite deliberate in all of the exercises, ensuring my form was perfect, and it must have been OK, as the instructor commented that my technique was very good quite a few times. I definitely could have gone faster... which I will do next week, now I know I'm doing everything correctly.
Then I went into the gym and did 3 sets of 20KG deadlifts... this time with the CORRECT technique. It's been so long since I've done deadlifts and I was a bit rusty when I did them on Wednesday but have had instruction on these since. Turns out 20KG really is very light and easy, so I will see about upping that weight too.

In the sauna afterwards the 2 people from the circuits and another latecomer to the class sat talking to Graeme and me, and they seem really nice. They commented that I can do a great explosive jumping burpee... which is nice to know, as it's a tough exercise, especially as you get tired.

So, I managed today far better than I thought I would, and I actually enjoyed it too! Let's hope I feel the same about Tuesdays' session. Now THAT is a toughie!
