Feeling good

When I weighed myself on Monday morning I found I had gone from 61.6KG down to 59.5KG. I was really happy with this, although it was probably excess water after reducing salt intake. I wonder how long it takes to adapt to using fat for fuel instead of carbs... I've read it can take anything from 30 days to 8 weeks.

I'm really enjoying the food, it's absolutely gorgeous. Both Graeme and myself are sleeping very well too (which is unusual for Graeme as he has a problem with his hip). After doing deadlifts on Sunday I found getting up on Monday morning no problem at all. Normally after a few weeks off with this exercise I can't move the next day without aching like hell. Mondays easy run (outside) for an hour was good and I was a little bit quicker than the previous week, however I had a bit of a setback on Tuesday morning when I found I was getting ITB pain on my left leg (the same one that was affected during The Wall ultra). I took immediate action and rollered, put Rock Tape on and have had a couple of days off training. It's worked, the pain isn't there today so hopefully I will be able to do some uphill running on the treadmill tomorrow. The plan originally was to do downhill running outside, but I can't do that so close to having a little ITB flare up. I go to Whitby next week to have a go on part of the ultra course, so I need to make sure I'm fit and healthy for that! At least I know the nutrition side of things is the best that it can be!
