Filpoke Lane

Oh my GOD... I hate Filpoke Lane. It's a little winding road near my home and there's 351 foot ascent from around 1.5 miles to 4 miles. I haven't ran Filpoke Lane for a very long time... maybe 3 years, and I have to admit that I avoid it because I find it tough. I've been having a little break from hill reps for the last couple of weeks though, and had promised myself I would try this today instead of running up and down the same hill (just to break monotony).

The wind was absolutely horrendous and I could barely breathe at times. I'm also not long back into running without walk breaks, so I had to incorporate the odd walk break in when I was hyperventilating at the top of certain inclines. When I'd got home I'd done 6 miles in about an hour, so although it didn't go as well as I was hoping for, it was a good starting point and maybe when I try this again in a few weeks I'll see a marked improvement. My chest feels very tight now, so I know I worked hard today and that's all I can ask of myself really!

I've got over the huge amount of tiredness I was feeling at the weekend (probably because I've had around 9 - 9.5 hours sleep every night since!) and I'm already looking forward to my 18 mile run on Saturday.
