Fat reduction

Things are moving on since I last blogged. I managed another 2:2 run/walk for 2 miles and was pain free on my knee/ITB despite wearing no Rocktape this time. Excellent stuff. After getting the thumbs up from William about carefully trying some deadlifts and wearing my XL vest again, I tried the deadlifts yesterday. I only went up to 45KG (which is around 50% of my 1RM) and today I have been shuffling about aching like hell. I'm pleased to say it has improved as the day has gone on though, but it's surprising how quick you lose strength.

I got home today and did 3 minutes run and 2 minutes walk (sticking to just 2 miles) and it all went very well, yet again pain free, although the humidity made breathing difficult.... or was that the lack of fitness??? When I got back I weighed myself (which is the same order of events and time of day I did this all last week) and was a bit miffed to see I've only lost 0.6 of a pound. Undeterred however, I measured my waist to see it was down 2 inches to 29 and when I did my bodyfat percentage with the callipers I found my muscle mass had shot up and my bodyfat had shot down. I now (after doing the calculations) only need to lose 9lb to be at my ideal fat percentage. It just goes to show you shouldn't rely only on weight when you're trying to get lean!

Eating has been a pure pleasure and I am enjoying my food immensely, although my mother says it will only be a matter of time before I won't eat anything, lol! I told her not to make any potatoes for us yesterday and brought sweet potato mash instead. She had a taste of it and said it was completely tasteless... I have to admit, I don't enjoy it like I do white potato but I know that will change over time. I've basically cut out all white stuff (potato, bread, rice, baked stuff) and all processed food. So, everything I'm eating is freshly cooked and I'm having a juice for breakfast. I said I was going to give up alcohol but to be fair I can't do it. I enjoy it too much and it's not like I get wasted every weekend.... far from it. So, I'm seeing a nice bottle of wine shared with Graeme as my naughty sin. :-)
