Aftermath

The last week has been a bit of a let down. I went from having the most amazing weekend which, once the race was over, was full of nice food and Dom Perignon, to... well, nothing! I'd booked the week off work and it was probably the worst thing ever as Graeme and I sat around all week twiddling our thumbs. My ITB has been quite painful and despite the physio saying I could try a little run on Saturday, walking for less than 2 miles yesterday was not good. William has recommended Rock tape, so I've ordered some. I'm stretching religiously and I'm starting up the Ming stretches today too, along with the recommended 3 litres of water a day, flaxseed oil and systemic enzymes. I'll reduce the inflammation somehow...

And, I entered the Thames Path 100 for May next year. Now THAT I am excited about. My friend Sebby is going to pace me (as I'm allowed a pacer for the last 49 miles) and Graeme is yet again Chief feeder, driver and all round good egg! Another vegan runner from Norway is coming over to do it too, so it will be great to meet her, especially as she is enlisting the help of other vegan runners in the UK for her crew.

I now have serious training to do. Now I know that I can get my head around the longer distances, I need to speed up in my training. Am I weird that I find the prospect of doing a marathon scarier than an ultra? I feel like I'm too slow to do a marathon, so I need to sort myself out, which, hopefully in turn will make me faster at ultras!
