Recovery

My cold has gone from bad to worse. I've pretty much felt dreadful since the race, but I'm hopefully slowly on the mend. I'm still very bunged up and coughing a lot, but I've started really looking after myself... starting with 11 hours sleep last night. I have an ache behind my knee (which is also hurting a little on the very top of my calf). I was going to run on the treadmill today to see how it faired but 2 things put me off.... the cold which I don't think I should run through, and the ache behind my knee which when googled told me it could be slight ligament damage. I say slight, because I don't think it's anything major. Unfortunately my physio is on holiday (how dare he!) so I can't go and see him, but I don't want to risk everything and set myself back when a couple of extra days off would have done the trick!

I'm absolutley itching to go for a run though. I'm itching to do something instead of sat watching TV. I have spent the last few days wishing it was a week ago... yes, I honestly have. I'd do that all again with the bad cold and retching, rather than sit here and do nothing. Sitting doing nothing has given me time to plan too... I've found a fab 24 hour race in August, which is similar to what I've just done. I'll make sure I don't go running in freezing cold floods a week before it next time though! I've also secured a restaurant for the Friday night for up to 30 people before the Wall ultra and have shared a link on the Runnersworld thread I've been reading for a while. I'm already really looking forward to this race immensely. I didn't give it too much thought before Kent, but now it's imminent and I can't wait. I now know I can do the distance... now I need to know can I do the terrain/the elevation/the "checkpoints" (as opposed to having lots of support en route).

So, I now need to find a head torch that isn't as heavy as my current one and a nice warm jacket for the night running. I'm getting excited!
