Thursday night wasn't a good night. I lay in bed worried my foot wasn't getting better and as a result didn't sleep very much at all. Friday was a little different. For quite a lot of the day my foot felt a bit numb and once or twice during the day as I was walking I felt a little twinge in my forefoot. Funnily enough I didn't see this as a bad thing... I imagined it was just my foot shrinking back to what it's supposed to be. Once I'd got home and had sat for five or ten minutes my foot became horrendously itchy and I sat an scratched for a good half an hour. Well, they reckon you get itchy when something is healing... I hope that is true!
The Olympics took over my concentration after that, so I didn't really think too much about my foot and it didn't give me any reason too either. Earlier on in the day I had booked an appointment with the physio for Wednesday. I thought I'd get checked out before I contemplate my first run next Saturday. I'm not sure if it's advisable (no doubt he'll tell me) but I wondered if a bit of laser or acupuncture would be beneficial, just to totally zap it!!!
This morning as I was walking into my branch at work I got another twinge down my foot, and I realised it was because I am now moving my foot fully and properly (probably for the first time in months), so I suppose I'm going to get a few twinges here and there as my muscles and tendons, etc, start doing their job again after a spell of redundancy!
And we are off to look at a new gym today that's opened up near us. It boasts steam/sauna/infra red rooms and a fantastic lot of equipment. It's owned by Eddie Ellwood (a former Mr Universe). I used to go to his parents gym years and years ago (as a teenager) and I always found the whole family to be very encouraging in your training. Of course, I have my own trainers ;-) and it's really all of the heat rooms that interest me (and most of the equipment I need for my training I already own). I had considered joining the lovely Rockcliffe Spa for the purpose of all of the saunas/steam rooms etc, however Eddies' gym is literally a quarter of the price per month! I really am becoming sensible in my old age!
