Last night I tried to do an exercise that I'd been advised to do... Picking a cotton wool ball up with my bad foot. My foot has obviously become so weak over the last few months as I was totally unable to do it. I just about managed 3 or 4 pick ups out of 20 attempts, however the 'action' was there, so it was worth attempting. Today I managed about 3 out of 10 attempts, although my foot is quite achy from doing it. It's good to be trying something though.
I have decided that as soon as we have the money, I will book up to go to Canada. Graeme always does everything I want and it's about time we put his wishes first. I will leave my race entry to the very last minute, so if I'm unable to do the full marathon I may be able to do the half, and if I'm unable to do the half then I will be there purely as support (oh... and for the trip to Niagra Falls of course!!!) I'll be rather gutted even if I have to resort to the half marathon, but as I said earlier, I can't just do stuff that I want and ignore Graemes dreams!
Graemes brother decided to become vegetarian yesterday, after a discussion with Graeme about how well Graeme was feeling since becoming vegan. Actually it's a strange one, as he's becoming pescatarian and avoiding dairy, so I'm not sure what that would be called. He rang for advice so I have said I'll give him a couple of books to read. I told him if he was really really serious about doing it, he should watch Paul McCartneys documentary "If slaughterhouses had glass walls" as that put me off ever resorting back to meat eating. I told him if he wasnt serious then he maybe shouldn't watch it. He text me an hour ago to say he'd watched it and it had upset him beyond belief. I know how it feels... The 8 minute film made me cry for hours afterwards.
So anyway, back to the foot.... I'm icing, ibuprofening, strengthening and non weight bearing. My orthotics should be here very soon so for now I have padding on my foot. Last time I kept padding on my foot it ended up feeling pretty good, so I'm hopeful...
