Milky pink

I rang the podiatrist on Tuesday evening. Did I have to concede and have an MRI scan done on my foot? I want to book flights and hotels for India and Dubai and am worried my foot will not be sorted in time. He told me he thinks the MRI is unnecessary as he really believes it has been a torn ligament that is definitely on the mend, however, it was time to move away from my sandals and wear my trainers with orthotics as this (he felt) would improve recovery time. "Hey... I'll do what it takes", I told him!

So, yesterday I went to work in a suit and fluorescent pink trainers. My clients are ace however, and instead of frowning upon my choice of footwear, they looked down at them and sympathetically asked, "Aww, how's your foot?"

I got a message on Facebook from a friend asking how I was after reading my blog. I realised how much of a miserable bugger I'd been and thought I really must make more of an effort to liven myself up. I think not being able to run is one thing, but not being able to do 90% of my other training really gets on my wick too. I need to get a grip though... There are worse things in life, aren't there?

So, I ordered my very expensive sandals, organised to go for a meal and to the cinema that night with Graeme, finally got some shampoo and conditioner (after using shower gel for a week because I couldn't find the vegan stuff and didn't want to buy the alternative) and sat with the girls from the opticians and had a right laugh about this and that. It was during this time I started to feel a bit crappy. My stomach bloated so much that I had to undo my trouser button and I looked about 4 months pregnant. Of course the girls thought it was hilarious to see this huge bump, but within half an hour I was ill and wasn't sure which end to put on the toilet first! The cramps in my stomach were horrendous and my skin felt too small for my body (a feeling I haven't experienced since becoming vegan). That made me think! I thought about what I'd eaten, and as everything apart from a fruit smoothie was stuff I eat regularly, I went down to the bin to find the empty bottle. Sure enough, underneath the ingredients it said 'May contain milk'. Well, I knew that milk was allowed to be sold with fairly high levels of bacteria (coming from blood and pus... Obviously from the animal it was milked from), but I had no idea it would make me feel so terrible after not having any for 2 months. Serves me right for presuming a fruit smoothie would be ok. I'll read the ingredients properly next time.

Anyway, my shoes came today and they are gorgeous so I'm glad I got them. I'm back at the podiatrists tomorrow and wearing trainers has definitely been better. I just need to find my mojo now!!!
