Yesterday when I went to do my deep water running, I decided to try and do a good session with a steady pace and no rest periods (although once I get into the pool I normally don't stop until I get out, I sometimes have an easy 2 laps or easy 5 minutes during the session).
I got into the pool and it was great because it was very quiet and hardly anybody was there. The first 5 minutes are always hard and I always seem to ache everywhere but these aches subside as I get into the session more... I suppose it's like running... you get that first mile or so that seems tough.
I'd been in the pool for around half an hour, maintaining a good steady pace when two 13 (ish) year old girls dive bombed right in front of me and giggled like... well... girls!!! I decided to let it go. After all, they were here to have fun and whilst I was there to work, I had to appreciate that not everybody comes to these places for fitness reasons. However, they continued to giggle and mess around and a few times got in my way (rather unnecessarily, as there was hardly anybody there) and then they told me that I looked like a lazy swimmer in a fat suit. I smiled at their ignorance and went on my way. I'd have loved to have asked them have they ever done an ultra marathon... or a marathon... or a half marathon... what? Not even a 10K?... but then I thought better of it. I don't want to scar the poor things for life, do I?
With only 10 minutes to go my groin on the right side beginning to tire(it's always the right side of my body that aches first). A man asked me what the suit I was wearing did. He had thought it caused some form of resistance as opposed to the real reason of keeping you floating in the correct position in the water. He said every time he sees me I look like I'm working really hard, which was nice to hear... or does that mean I just always look knackered? ;-)
This morning I felt really achey, which is a good feeling. Tonight I'm thinking of doing some sort of circuit training... without putting any weight on my foot of course!
