20 seconds!

Oh my God! I ran the second half of the 30 miler only 20 seconds slower than the first half. I can't quite believe it... I think this is the closest I've come to a negative split on a long run before. Wow... "well chuffed" isn't even close to how good I'm feeling about it!

This good feeling makes up for yesterdays mood. I seemed to have been in a bit of a miserable mood and couldn't shake it off. Maybe it was tiredness, I don't know.

Today I have took the plunge and ordered some New Balance road shoes. I've worn them before in a D fitting and got away with them quite well, so I am going to get these worn in (hopefully) for Amsterdam and when the new Brooks range comes out I'm going to try a pair of those on. If they feel good they will be my second pair. I've always wanted to have two different makes of road shoe for alternative running days but have had to stick so rigidly in the past because of being unable to find a suitable pair. In hindsight, I think they were probably all suitable... if only I'd bought the correct size... Doh! Could this be the end of compeed and toe caps?

I'm feeling relatively good today. I woke up and had a bit of stiffness around my hips, but apart from that I'm good. I tried deadlifts yesterday but they didn't go too well as I had a bit of ache in the hamstrings, but to be honest I was just too tired to put any effort in really! Tonight I'm going to go for a gentle 3 mile run to work things through and then stretch myself silly at yoga!
