How embarrassing.... I go to the physio to have him tell me my calves are much better and don't feel anywhere near as bad. I can't understand it, as yesterday's intervals went by well apart from the feeling that my left calf could cramp at any second and today's run was reduced to a run/walk because at first my bursa was mildly irritating (that went away though) but again my left calf didn't feel good. I joked to him that I even felt like my feet were going to cramp up. He looked at me bewildered.... "Tell me what you drink from the second you get up to when you go to bed". Hmmmmm.... Tea to start, cappuccino on the way to work, decaff coffee when I get to work, cappuccino at 10am from the bistro next door, cappuccino with lunch....
He stopped me there and told me all these problems were probably dehydration. I felt stupid. He asked how much I'd drank in the four and a half hours in Lyon... It had been 1.5 litres, and judging by his response it wasn't enough!
Looking back, I had began trying to drink less when I wondered if it was causing puffy hands, and I carried this on after being restricted water at the Fleetwood marathon. So it's all been my own fault. Apparently I have enough time to properly hydrate before the 30 mile run in Scotland on Saturday. I don't know whether to feel totally thick or just completely relieved... A bit of both I suppose!
This morning I woke up to the light from the Lumie Lightbox. At 5am it felt more like 8am on a Saturday morning. I asked Graeme how he felt and he replied, "Less shit than normal". I took that as a positive! So, I did my squats at the crack of dawn and ran after work. to be fair this wasn't the wisest order of training, however I knew my new trail shoes would be delivered today and wanted to try them out before Saturday. They are great, although need a small adjustment with the lacing. It's funny but I've always considered Salomon but never got around to trying a pair. Graemes jealous, because they look the business too! :-)
