An antiseptic tongue

Yesterday I really was ruing the fact that I had cut all the dead skin away from my blister. As it continued to weep all day and night and hurt like hell, I considered that maybe I was stupid to have done it. In my infinite wisdom, I believed that cutting away the skin (that was causing more of a blister every time I ran) would help it to finally begin to heal... yesterday this wasn't looking good. The dog kept trying to lick my wound... I know they are supposed to have antiseptic tongues, but I didn't want him to lick it. Besides, it hurt when he tried!

Today I'm pleased to say that I think I made the right decision. I can touch it now and it doesn't hurt... and it isn't weeping anymore either, thank heavens! In fact, as the dog (yet again) tried to lick my foot, I was at least pleased to see he was licking the good foot.... no, he was licking my poorly foot and it felt fine. Phew. Now I know this hype about an antiseptic tongue, but I immediately cleaned it anyway and put more sudocream on (just in case).
I'm not sure if I'll be able to run tomorrow with it yet... but it's feeling and looking great. Someone gave me a tip about putting meths or white spirit on it and just the thought of doing that had me needing to be peeled off the ceiling.... not in THIS lifetime!

In other news, I had no aches or pains at all today after yesterdays 18 miles. I'm going to email William and Shaun and ask if they think it's OK to go up in weight again in my XL vest. I have also decided for next weeks run (approx 20 miles) to take a bag of pretzels with me. I had some at Kerrys' house last week and I think they'd be a great mid run/race snack! I've also mentioned doing a run/walk/amble along the Clyde at the end of September to Graeme. Maybe around 30 miles... he thinks it sounds like a great idea.
I have also done some calf raises today. 15 (on both feet at same time) and 6 sets of eccentric ones. I'm sure my foot is better, but I'm still very cautious!
