Today has gone from strength to strength. It started with a couple of good sales at work (both of which were very unexpected), and then a meeting with my district manager went really well. I have been closely monitored by way of conversion rates for the last few months (which is why I believed my job was in jeopardy, as not many people go through it and keep their job), and today he told me that the monitoring is officially over and I was "In a good place" I was also given some other good news today which I am unable to divulge until tomorrow, but it made me feel really happy.
I decided to start running some trails every Wednesday to get myself used to the terrain. Boy was it difficult... I felt zapped by way of cardiovascular fitness, however running the second mile at 8.30mm probably didn't help! I wanted to walk at 1.9 miles but decided to try and push myself as much as possible and try to get as far as I could without walking. I managed another 1.2 miles. This is my new technique for pushing myself. I am hoping that by doing this I will know I have it in me to run longer when tired during the ultra.
I also wore my new trail shoes (I have only walked in them before today) and I also wore a cap which I found completely irritating... but it's something I have to get used to!
I came home and had beans and sausages on toast (nectar after a run!) and then went up and did my rebounder, squats and upper body weights sessions. The squats went well and I managed a static lift of 110KG which I'm rather pleased with. The rebounder really ached my calves. I'm not sure if this is the after effects of using it yesterday or the after effects of the trail run... but whatever caused it, it's all good!!
