Wow... what a nightmare I have had.
I looked at the registration for Bangalore yesterday and saw it was open for entry. I was very excited and got to work entering... again... and again...and again... nope! It wouldn't work. I was panicking thinking how I had payed half of my holiday to India and may not even manage to enter the ultra.
So, I got up this morning and tried again. No... still didn't work. I joined "Runners for Life" (India based website which is a bit like Runners World) and managed to find a link on there that somebody else had registered on. I tried that... no! Oh dear me!
As a last resort I clicked on the "Pay by cheque" instead of debit card, and got an instant response saying, "Congratulations, subject to receiving payment, you have a place in the Bangalore Ultra!" Oops... and how do I pay that then?
I emailed RFL and asked how I go about it, and they very kindly emailed me straight back saying they would contact me tomorrow hopefully with bank transfer details. SO....I'm in! Yay! I sooooo can't wait!
Yesterday I did my 45 minute run and had to really talk myself out of walking the first 3 miles. I felt totally uncoordinated and couldn't get into a rhythm at all. It wasn't until the last mile and a half where I began daydreaming about going to India when I relaxed enough to enjoy the run. Who says disassociation is a bad thing? I then did my squat session, which went really well apart from my last full set which was not the best technique. If this happens again next week I am going to go down in weight to make sure I do it properly, as there is no point in doing half a job!
My foot today has felt a little tender, which I believe to be caused by the fact that although my new trainers are incredibly comfy, they are also much more responsive and allow much more forefoot flexibility. I decided that enough was enough and I can't go through life too scared to bend my toes and so phoned the podiatrist. He gave me some fab news, apparently his colleague had told him that he thought I didn't have a neuroma and it was only neuritis as there is no way I would be running as much as I am if it had been a neuroma. I was so pleased to hear that. He described a stretch to do for my foot and I'm pleased to say it worked a treat and my foot instantly felt loads better. So, all is looking good.
I had a sauna tonight and sweated away for 24 minutes. It got so hot that even my thermometer went off the scale (after 59.5 degrees). It simply reverted to HH... which I reckon meant Horrendously Hot! ;-)
Good for you Claire! But I decided I won't be doing it as I have planned for a 100M in the first week of Nov in USA... All the best to your race! :)
