Yesterday, the run in the torrential rain meant my orthotics and trainers were soaking. I had put my orthotics in the sink and washed them because they smelt awful (something I have never noticed before). It wasn't until Graeme asked how old they were that I realised they were about two and a half years old and I had ran well over 2000 miles in them.
Today, before my interval session, I picked them up and they still smelt horrible, so I got my new orthotics (which I have previously only walked in) and thought they were going to have to do!
I did 10 minutes on the rebounder and then a 10 minute warm up on the treadmill. It was during the run warm up that I noticed my feet felt incredibly supported and comfortable. My bad foot felt great, and this continued on for the whole session.
The heat in the gym was 26 degrees, and I felt pretty comfortable until the second interval (after around 35 minutes of exercise) where I began to feel much hotter. To my surprise, I only drank half of my water during the session... a first! I normally run out of water during the last interval and have none left for my 5 minute walking recovery. I was still sweating as much as usual, but just didn't feel the need to drink as much. It just goes to show how much I have improved when it comes to the heat.
I have ordered a second pair of Kinsei 4's ready for all of the up and coming training I'm to do, which I will alternate with the pair I have now. Next month I am going to get a pair that I just use for my intervals, and I'm fancying the new Mizuno Wave Precision 12's for that. At some point I think I will also get a second pair of orthotics... then I won't need to buy any for a good 5 or so years!
The Bangalore website has changed yet again (colour change now), and they have updated their facebook page. I'm sure the registrations are imminent. Graeme has asked me to enter the 50K for him... whether he gets to the start line is another matter, but at least the place is there for him if he ever gets over the problems with his knee. And if not... well, he can take lots of pictures and send texts to people back home with my race updates! I shall use and abuse him well. :-)
