A positive state of mind

It's been a traumatic few days worrying about work, but I went to a meeting on Friday which was the best meeting I've attended for over a year. It turns out I'm far from alone on the "being bugged about conversion rates" front, and things are not as dire as first thought. Phew... it's time to get a positive state of mind about it all and just get on with it.
Saturday morning I went to work and sold the latest aid, so all is going well. When work was finished I went to my mams and we did our 1 mile. She hasn't ran for two weeks due to a chest infection but surprisingly was getting a little tetchy about running again and wanted to get going. She was only half a minute slower than her best, which wasn't bad considering. I wore my XL vest for this... maybe I will wear it for our running together from now on.

As soon as we got back, I stopped my Garmin and reset it and went straight off to do my 1 hour run. I found it quite frustrating that I didn't already know route distances (being near my mams house and not mine) and ended up adding a loop here and a loop there. I didn't feel fit at all and at 30-40 minutes had a couple of extra walk breaks... this was mainly concerning my foot that seemed to be a little bit niggly. I think because I have had not one bit of grief from it for weeks I had thought it practically back to normal, however the podiatrist did warn me it could be the end of June before it feels normal again (or the beginning as far as I was concerned).

So, I came home yesterday and took every precaution to make sure my foot was OK. I rested it for the rest of the day, gave it a bit of "thought therapy" and even iced it just in case. I'm pleased to say today it feels back to normal. I took the dog for a 2 mile walk just to make sure it was OK (I don't want to be doing deadlifts if it isn't feeling alright), and all went well. I then had a sauna and was pleased to get to the full 30 minutes. The last 5 minutes were not too pleasant and I was dripping with sweat by the end, but I managed the full time which is good.

This afternoon I will be doing my deadlifts and have decided that as from tomorrow I am moving from a 5:1 run/walk to 10:1. Here's hoping I can manage it!
