Squeeeeeeeeeee

I have been ridiculously excited today about India. I have got myself a book about the place (which I always do when I visit somewhere... you don't want to do something that is classed as bad manners in a foreign country do you?) and I have found the hotel we are wanting to stay at.
I know people must think I have "a tile missing off my roof"(my mother is included in that category!), but this is a good step for me. It is less hilly than Comrades, slightly cooler and slightly shorter... but it will be the closest I have come to something that arduous. I was excited at the prospect of doing Basel, looked forward to attempting Grantham and resided myself to the fact Clyde Stride was the perfect distance and time frame (I thought)... but none of them filled me with the excitement that this race does! Let's put it this way... at some point I am going to have to deal with the heat (Comrades was 28 degrees last year), so why not just sort it out sooner rather than later? This will not be like Marrakesh marathon... this time I will wear a hat and not be pathetic enough to not drink water the day before and sunbathe without suncream. Stupid idiot I was... but you live and learn don't you? And this time I will do proper heat training... which William and Shaun will help me with as I have no clue what to do! That starts after Amsterdam!
So... this is the elevation I will be training for... it isn't as bad as it looks on there, however I will be running this loop six times!!!! :-)

I ran with my mam today and she got another 28 second PB. She's doing fab. I ran another 2 and a bit miles on my own and did a 5:1 run/walk split this time... it's all coming together nicely! The squats I did tonight really hurt though... you can tell I haven't done a decent session of those for a while!
