This morning, the plan was 3 miles on the treadmill and then another mile with my mam. I went on the treadmill for my run and it was sooooo easy! The three minutes run/1 minute walk was torture as I just found it too slow. My foot felt normal... yes, totally normal... doing a slow 5mph was excruciatingly frustrating. I wanted to put the treadmill up to 6mph but thought better of it and bided my time.
I then went over to my mams house and we did our 1 mile run. She ran much further in the first part than she usually does, but an awful cramp in her calves stopped her from running very far for the rest of the mile. Turns out she hadn't had anything at all to eat or drink, so she got a bollocking! What can I say, I'm a tough coach. :-) Next weeks "long run" goes up to 1.5 miles and I intend to get her to 4 miles before the race in July so she gets to the startline knowing she has already ran further.
Graeme ran 6 miles today. He came back home and was in a bit of a mood for a while. I asked what was wrong and he said nothing but it later transpired that his knee was aching. He has a bit of a long standing injury with his knee, so he said he is going to make an appointment to see Tim (my physio). I think he's doing the right thing as he doesn't want to ruin his chances of completing the Clydestride. It's funny, but I don't even want to do that race anymore. My foot is so good at the moment (it's now 10 hours after both runs and it honestly feels normal) that a slow build up to an ultra at a later date is now on the cards. And I really do want Graeme to do well when he does the race... if all of a sudden he wants to do ultra races then it has to have come from somewhere within, and good luck to him... he's finally seen sense and ditched this whole cycling nonsense. ;-)
